The Reel Review

B-

Lulu Wilson returns in this sequel to 2020’s Becky as the ass kicking teenager who goes on another bloody killing rampage after a group of white supremacists planning a terrorist attack kill her friend and kidnap her beloved dog. Seann William Scott (American Pie, Dude Where’s My Car?) co-stars as the fascist leader saddled with three, soon-to-be dead, bumbling idiots.

Whereas the first film went off the rails by its conclusion, this sequel from the directing duo of Matt Angel (who also co-stars as the villain Sean) and Suzanne Coote (The Open House) smartly keep the plot super simple, and even lean into the ridiculous violence with lots of humor. The result is a more fitting tone, with Lulu Wilson (Annabelle: Creation, Ouija: Origin of Evil) delivering a solid performance as she metes out the expected, creative kills. Jill Larsen (The Taking of Deborah Logan) and Courtney Gains (Malachi from 1984’s Children of the Corn) also co-star.

The Wrath of Becky is pretty mindless fluff, but for fans of gore-filled revenge horror, it is a satisfyingly good time and a nice improvement on the original.
