A widowed psychologist still traumatized by her abusive marriage faces a moral dilemma when she starts getting smartphone airdrops from an unknown individual demanding that she kill her date or her young son dies. Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus) and Brandon Sklenar (It Ends with Us, 1923) star in this whodunnit mystery/thriller.

Ridiculous premise aside, Fahy does totally sell it, drawing us into her unfolding, increasingly twisted personal nightmare with Sklenar as the astoundingly patient first date. After being repeatedly thwarted by her tormentor from warning others in the high-rise restaurant about her dire situation, momma bear takes matters into her own hands to save her son in this taut, briskly paced thriller.

Once the identity and purpose of her stalker in the restaurant is finally revealed, the film from director Christopher Landon (Freaky, Happy Death Day) starts to unravel, with an even more bonkers and completely unrealistic (albeit admittedly entertaining) finale. Solid performances from the two leads, Violette Beane (Countdown, The Flash) as the babysitting sister and Gabrielle Ryan as the bartender make this mindless but effective thriller worth the ride.
