The Reel Review

The premise of this Canadian low budget horror film is simply awesome – a sheriff stumbles upon an injured drug addict on a desolate country road and brings him to the equally desolate nearby hospital that happens to be run by his ex-wife. Within minutes, the hospital is surrounded by a spooky hoard of dagger-wielding cult members wearing white robes. Super creepy.

But from there, the story devolves into ridiculousness, as those inside the hospital start losing their minds and creatures start emerging out of some of them, a la John Carpenter’s The Thing. Gore aficionados won’t be disappointed but anyone seeking an actual plot will discover that, as the mystery of the hospital is revealed, our filmmakers were more about 1980s era gruesome effects than they were a coherent story.
