The Reel Review

The young new owners of a charming dream house in Napa Valley experience buyers’ remorse after the former owner, an emotionally unhinged widower, refuses to stay away from the property and leave them alone. Meagan Good, Michael Ealy and Dennis Quaid star in this horror/thriller.

Meagan Good and Michael Ealy in The Intruder

If the ridiculously basic plot and some heavily telegraphed jump scares aren’t enough, then perhaps the PG-13 rating should spell out that The Intruder has all the excitement and believability of a brainless Lifetime network drama. The predictable story raises a ton of questions. Why were there no realtors? Why didn’t the couple have the good sense to call the police the first time he showed up? Why does the wife keep letting this crazy guy back into their house? Lots of questions. No answers.

Dennis Quaid in The Intruder

Quaid at least looks like he’s having a blast as the crazy old coot, showing off all sorts of kooky facial expressions. But with a big yawn of a reveal that you can probably predict from reading this review, The Intruder is a dull waste of your time, unless you really are in the mood for a silly stalker drama.
