The Reel Review
This is the true story of the three young American men who thwarted an attempted terrorist attack on a train traveling from Amsterdam to Paris in August of 2015. While director Clint Eastwood has brought us some outstanding films over the years – Million Dollar Baby, Letters From Iwo Jima, Mystic River – this is NOT one of them. In fact, it is by far his worst as a director. Eastwood’s gimmick, of having the actual heroes play themselves in the film, results in an embarrassingly amateurish misfire – a painfully unremarkable script, a tediously boring and preachy lead-up to the climax, and not surprisingly, awful acting by our real life heroes. Unfortunate.
