The Reel Review
I really wanted to like this Disney movie about the making of another Disney movie, but sadly, most of the best parts were already featured in the previews. Emma Thompson is great as the cantankerous author whose film rights Walt Disney (Tom Hanks) pursues to turn Mary Poppins into a movie, but the story is so schmaltzy and tedious that it just falls flat. It did, however, succeed in making me want to go back and watch Mary Poppins again.
