The Reel Review
Kristen Bell and Kelsey Grammer star in this Netflix original dramedy about a smart-phone addicted, workaholic bride-to-be who, after being epically dumped at the alter on her wedding day, ends up going on her non-refundable honeymoon cruise anyway – with her estranged father. As expected, after a few initial tense days at sea, the two get reacquainted and start unpacking their emotional baggage. Bell and Grammer both make the best of a meager script and deliver heartfelt performances, but Seth Rogen looks embarrassed to be there (his wife Lauren is the director), and it’s hard to believe someone at Netflix actually green-lit this weird, cliché-riddled, lackluster film, which feels more like an unfunny infomercial for Royal Caribbean than it does an actual movie.
