Oh, Madonna. After announcing her big, career-spanning world tour earlier this month, the Queen of Pop apparently has now decided NOT to produce her own biopic that was to star Julia Garner (Ozark).

Multiple sources at Universal Pictures tell Variety that the project has been scrapped, with Madonna instead opting to focus on her upcoming tour, which has been selling out venues at ridiculously high prices. (At last check, front row seats in Atlanta were going for $13,000 a piece.)

Madonna handpicked Garner for the coveted role last June after the Emmy-winning actress survived a grueling, weeks-long casting process that had Garner and several other actresses such as Florence Pugh taking part in 11-hour days of choreography sessions, singing auditions and readings with Madonna.

Evan Rachel Wood in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story

While this news is disappointing to us fans of the pre-Instagram-addicted Madonna, we still have Rachel Evan Wood’s pretty incredible performance as The Material Girl in 2022’s Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.
