Brace for impact – the moon is about to collide with Earth!

Yup, that’s the crazy premise behind writer/director Roland Emmerich’s latest sci-fi/action thriller starring Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson and John Bradley. The trio – a NASA executive, an astronaut and a conspiracy theorist – form an unlikely alliance as they travel to outer space to save the planet after a mysterious force knocks the moon from its orbit and hurling towards Earth.

John Bradley, you will recall, was Samwell Tarly in HBO’s Game of Thrones.

Roland Emmerich is the director behind such prior escapist doomsday action blockbusters as 1996’s Independence Day and 2009’s totally off the rails disaster film, 2012. Will Moonfall and its whopping $150 million budget strike box office gold – or veer off into moviemaking infamy? Despite a pretty crazy premise, the trailer at least looks interesting:

Moonfall is scheduled to hit theaters on February 4, 2022.
