Keanu Reeves will reprise his iconic role as Neo in headspinningly trippy Matrix sci-fi franchise, when its fourth installment, The Matrix Resurrections, hits theaters this December.

The first look at the highly-anticipated installment continues the story of Neo (Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), who appear to be trapped inside a simulated reality controlled by machines. From the newly-released trailer, it appears as though Neo and Trinity don’t know each other yet, and Neo has amnesia about his past during discussions with his therapist, played by Neil Patrick Harris.

Produced, co-written and directed by Lana Wachowski, The Matrix Resurrections also sees the return of Jada Pinkett Smith, with series newcomers Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Priyanka Jonas and Christina Ricci.

The Matrix Resurrections will premiere in theaters and on HBO Max December 22nd.
