The Reel Review
In this Disney animated comedy, video game villain Wreck-It Ralph (John C. Reilly) unknowingly wreaks havoc on his fellow game characters when he abandons his own video game/home to pursue his dream of becoming a hero. But it isn’t until he selflessly helps glitchy computer character Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) realize her own dream that he discovers what a true hero is. Despite a contrived story that is a bit of a snoozer, it’s still a good enough excuse to showcase some clever animation chocked full of fun video game nostalgia for adults while entertaining the kids. The winsome personalities of Reilly, Silverman, and Jane Lynch (Glee), and crowd pleasing ending don’t hurt either.
