The Reel Review
When a high school student (Joey King) comes upon a Chinese antique box that grants her seven wishes, her life is magically transformed, until she discovers that each wish results in the death of a loved one. Been there, done that. The only real fun in this sad horror story retread is spotting the minor celebrities whom have roles in it – Ryan Philippe, Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks), Jerry O’Connell (Piranha 3D), and Shannon Purser (Barb from Stranger Things). With the exception of an ending that is actually much better than this anemic story deserved, this is one amateurish, boring and scare-free horror flick. Your only wish – that you hadn’t wasted an hour and a half of your life watching it.
