The Reel Review

This crime thriller is loosely based on the actual story of a couple of twenty-something stoners from Miami Beach who, thanks to some government loopholes and ingenuity, ended up winning one of the larger defense contracts of the Bush administration.

Despite an interesting story and a decent performance by Miles Teller and Jonah Hill as the sleaziest of these two unlikely arms dealers, the film is a bit psychotic in its mission – at times it tries to be a cutesy buddy movie reminiscent of director Todd Phillips’ prior film, The Hangover, and at other times it attempts to morally indict the greed and horror of the arms industry.

Unfortunately, the film fails to accomplish either goal.
