The Reel Review
A South Korean businessman driving home to his family is trapped when a highway tunnel in the countryside collapses. As days go by, discovery of the shoddiness of the tunnel’s design and construction hampers rescue efforts and diminishes hope for rescue in this disaster thriller from director Kim Seong-hun. Quick pacing, impressive visual effects and well-developed characters equally well portrayed by Ha Jung-woo and Bae Doo-na (Cloud Atlas, The Host) as his wife, results in a sophisticated, emotionally compelling thriller, despite a two hour length that could have been shortened a bit.
