The Reel Review
The Pitt follows a single 15-hour workday of emergency room doctors and nurses at the fictional Pittsburgh Medical Trauma Center as they juggle personal crises and workplace politics alongside the emotional toll of treating critically ill patients. Noah Wyle leads a strong ensemble cast in this impressive medical drama series.

Quick pacing allows The Pitt to realistically capture the frenetic activity – and frustratingly overcrowded waiting rooms – in hospital emergency rooms across America, showcasing the plethora of illnesses and emergencies faced by the doctors and nurses that work there. A heavy focus on accurate medical details pays big dividends in what many health care professionals are lauding as one of the most technically accurate medical shows on television. It’s also very topical. Season One culminates in an influx of victims from a mass shooting at a music festival.

Wyle, who also wrote for four of the 15 episodes helmed by show creator R. Scott Gemmill, is the brains of the series with Katherine LaNasa the heart (and comic relief) as wise-cracking Charge Nurse Dana Evans. Superb performances from its leading ensemble cast – Fiona Dourif, Isa Briones, Patrick Ball, Supriya Ganesh, Taylor Dearden, Gerran Howell and Shabana Azeez – makes The Pitt a fascinating and very addictive binge.
