The Reel Review
On its surface it looks like yet another cheap Blair Witch Project found footage knockoff, but this demonic possession horror film has enough clever twists and truly scary moments to stand on its own merit. The story is straightforward enough – after years of taking advantage of gullible followers with his parlor tricks, a charming preacher/conman (Patrick Fabian) in rural Louisiana decides to expose his fraudulent service with a film documentary of his last “exorcism” – only to discover the young girl he is there to “cure” may truly be possessed by a demon. Ashley Bell is extremely compelling as the naive and innocent young girl confused at what is happening to her. And despite some off the rails moments and a crazy ending, the disturbing story builds to a super creepy second half.
