The rise and fall of disgraced hip-hop music mogul and former billionaire businessman Sean “Diddy” Combs, and details of his alleged years-long, physical, sexual and emotional abuse and the bullying tactics he is accused of using to silence his victims are chronicled in this five-part miniseries.

Anyone looking for the more sensational details of Combs’ notorious sex parties and the celebrities who attended them will be very disappointed. This is a dry, play-it-safe docuseries focusing first on Diddy’s fatherless childhood, his violent tendencies while attending college at Howard University, and his rise as a record company representative for up-and-coming artists. Episodes 3 and 4 get into the more shocking revelations – Diddy’s alleged threats to kill the former Editor-in-Chief at Vibe magazine, the 1999 shooting of Natania Reuben and male staff members who say he forced them to perform sex acts, and eventually, the allegations of a monstrous Diddy drugging, raping and threatening women, in particular his former girlfriend of 11 years, Cassie Ventura. The 2016 video of Combs dragging a barefoot Ventura by her hair from an elevator bank to their hotel room made him an overnight villain.

Those unfamiliar with the allegations will be shocked, but for the rest, the docuseries doesn’t really reveal anything new, and it even omits some of the basic details about his arrest and upcoming criminal trial. It also steers clear of providing too much detail of Diddy’s now infamous “Freak Off” sex parties and the celebrities who attended the drug-fueled orgies. The fifth episode, a 21-minute interview with former assistant Phil Pines, is really all you need to see to get the gist of what Diddy, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, is all about.
