The Reel Review
Sequels are rarely as good as the originals and while this horror film is good, the saying still holds true. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as famed paranormal duo Ed and Lorraine Warren, to investigate one of the most documented hauntings in history – England’s Enfield Poltergeist of the late 1970s.
Like its predecessor, the sequel has an amazing attention to detail, top notch casting and plenty of truly creepy moments. Where it falls short, however, is a long, convoluted, meandering story and an over-reliance on distracting Hollywood gimmicks and cheesy monsters that were refreshingly absent in the original. And can we talk about the wallpaper in the Warren home? Now THAT is scary!
