The crew of the USS Enterprise is back with a clever, larger than life story and dizzying special effects in the rebooted franchise’s latest sequel, directed by Fast And Furious’ Justin Lin and co-written by Simon Pegg, who reprises his role as engineer Scotty. After answering a distress call in uncharted parts of the galaxy, the crew finds itself up against an evil warlord intent on destroying the universe with a horrific doomsday device. The score is outstanding and the visuals truly are out of this world, with an amazing attention to detail and astonishing camera work that should score loads of Oscar nominations in the technical categories, even if the breakneck pace of the film is, at times, hard to follow. Dramamine, please! This is definitely one worth catching in IMAX 3D if possible.
