The sixth and final season of the fish-out-of-water comedy series Schitt’s Creek has David preparing for his big wedding with Patrick, Alexis getting her social marketing business going while fiancé Ted is working in the Galapagos Islands, Johnny partnering up with Stevie and Roland to expand the Rosebud Motel into a chain, and Moira enjoying a career comeback from her role in the Bosnian horror film, The Crows Have Eyes 3. Ca-caw!

Father/son co-creators Eugene and Dan Levy (who also play father and son Johnny and David) have made each season of the goofy comedy funnier and more touching than the last, as the Roses have evolved from silly, self-unaware snobs to beloved inhabitants of the unfortunately-named small town. The lovable, quirky ensemble cast, also led by Catherine O’Hara as the outlandish matriarch Moira, and Annie Murphy as daughter Alexis, is comedy gold. You will laugh and you will cry.

Besides the big wedding finale, highlights of the final season include the return of David’s childhood bed wetting habit, Alexis’ totally bonkers town premiere for Moira’s movie, the Moira and David wine tasting, a crazy “Escape Room” themed bachelor party, Johnny’s big pitch to investors to make the Rosebud Motel a franchise, and perhaps the sweetest moment – not just one, but two surprising revelations from Twyla (played by Sarah Levy, Eugene and Dan’s real life daughter/sister) – the latter of which will leave a lump in your throat and a tear in your eye.  Schitt’s Creek’s comedy,  insightfulness, and its surprisingly sweet ode to the beauty of small town life – will be sorely missed.

REEL FACTS

• Eugene Levy gifted his son Dan a framed photo of the two of them on the final day of production. On it, he wrote “Daniel, it was an honor being your partner, son, Dad xo.” The final season of Schitt’s Creek airs on  Pop TV.

• After her house burned down and with only $3 in her bank account, Annie Murphy considered quitting acting altogether, before landing the iconic role of Alexis. Are you curious how she and Sarah Levy handled their final scene together in Episode 13? Read here.

• The crazy wigs and black and white outfits Catherine O’Hara wears as Moira in Schitt’s Creek is a nod to her role as Delia Deetz in 1988’s Beetlejuice.
