The Reel Review
Netflix’s first original Hindi-language film is a rom/com set in Mumbai, where cash-strapped co-workers Sanjay and Karina agree to get married to qualify for a home loan in the housing-scarce city. As expected, romance blossoms but complications arise as they must deal with prior, fading relationships and families with different religious backgrounds. The charisma of the film’s two stars, Vicky Kaushal and Angira Dhar, clever humor, and well done musical numbers makes director Anand Diwari’s breezy film fun, despite some maddeningly far-fetched plot twists. You’ll never look at the Chicken Dance the same way again.
