The Reel Review
This period drama set in 1865 rural northern England has young Katherine finding herself in one predicament after another as she tries to escape a loveless marriage. An effectively dark mood and psychological drama helps this low budget thriller blow a hole in the conventional reputation of period films as being stuffy affairs. Florence Pugh is jaw-droppingly on point as the icy opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.
