The Reel Review
Interesting characters and a compelling albeit farfetched story made the futuristic sci-fi film Divergent a hit. This snoozefest of a sequel falls far short however, featuring an even goofier plot and cheesy dialogue that filmmakers were unable to dress up with excessive violence, underutilized stunt casting (Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer) and gobs of special effects. Unless you are a diehard fan of the books or just enjoy watching pretty people run around shooting each other, I’d skip it.
