The Reel Review
This is a moody, surreal Russian horror film about a couple of sisters who enlist the help of a priest and a centuries old ritual when they discover that a deadly plague in their village is actually the work of demons preying on villagers’ subconscious minds. The trippy concept, impressive visuals, and story’s more cerebral slow burn versus more traditional horror cliches creates an inventive attention grabber. But the low budget film’s many unexplained storylines ultimately makes it feel distractingly nonsensical.
