The Reel Review
A police detective investigating a series of child abductions, his unfaithful wife and their teenage son all find their lives upended when mysterious happenings start occurring in their house, in this very twisty horror/thriller starring Oscar winner Helen Hunt (As Good as It Gets) and Jon Tenney (The Closer, Scandal).
A ridiculously ominous score sets the disturbing mood in director Adam Randall’s pulse pounding psychological thriller within a thriller, where ultimately nothing is what it initially appears. Halfway into the mystery, a flashback reveals some of the missing jigsaw puzzle pieces – but there are many more twists to come.
Working from screenwriter Devon Graye’s wildly entertaining but also wildly convoluted plot, I See You cleverly plays with the viewer’s own assumptions and reluctance to question the questionable, culminating in an ultimate reveal that brings the crime mystery together in one big “a-ha” moment.
