The Reel Review
This is THE iconic Halloween horror film, and not just because it has the popular American holiday as its title. Jamie Lee Curtis stars as the likable, good girl teenage babysitter Laurie Strode, whom is terrorized on Halloween night by maniacal serial killer Michael Myers after he escapes from his psychiatric facility and returns to his hometown of Haddonfield, 15 years after he killed his older sister on Halloween night. Director John Carpenter’s mercilessly heart-pounding thriller has all the requisite creepy jump scares and thrills, as well as the lingering psychological terror that sticks with you long afterwards, thanks to fine performances by scream queen Curtis and Donald Pleasence as the psychiatrist hunting Myers.
