Kirsten Dunst stars in this winsome comedy as Torrance, the newly-elected captain of the five time high school national cheerleading champions, the Rancho Carne Toros, who is sent into a panic when she discovers her predecessor at their upscale school stole their winning routines from a predominantly black high school on the poorer side of metro Los Angeles. Now Torrance must a assemble a completely new, original routine in time for the national competition.

In his directorial debut, Peyton Reed assembles a cleverly written, wonderfully silly story with loads of high energy music and infectious performances from its highly entertaining, ensemble cast that introduced the concept of “spirit fingers” into the vernacular.

Dunst, Eliza Dushku and Gabrielle Union are all A-W-E-S-O-M-E in this fun comedy, that while never taking itself too seriously, also cleverly addresses issues of race, income inequality and homophobia. It is a cheerleading cult classic.
