Jon Hamm and Rosamund Pike star in this 1980s period spy thriller about a former agent asked by the CIA to go back to Beirut to negotiate for the release of his captured friend and colleague a decade after his own wife was killed there. Although there is a certain predictable spy clichéness to the story, Bourne franchise screenwriter Tony Gilroy delivers a cleverly-woven and entertaining, taut thriller that captures the chaotic mood of Beirut during that era, with compelling performances from Hamm and Pike.
