Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron star in this big screen R-rated adaptation of the popular, campy 90s TV series, which is heavy on goofy comedy and even heavier on moronic ridiculousness, with our sexy, hard-bodied lifeguards going undercover, a la Charlie’s Angels, to bust up an illicit drug ring. It has a handful of chuckles and the requisite T and A running slow motion on the beach, but the uninspired story and hokey visual effects falls far short – 21 Jump Street’s comedy/parody did it way better. This the textbook definition of forgettable, mindless entertainment.
