The Reel Review
After a mysterious teenage boy helps her break free from a spell, Agatha Harkness, the arch nemesis of the Marvel Universe’s Scarlet Witch Wanda Maximoff, must pass a series of tests to regain her powers that were stripped from her during her banishment. Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza, Patti LuPone and Joe Locke star in this Disney+ spinoff of WandaVision.

Hahn has never been better as the evil but immensely charismatic Agatha, in a fantasy series that showcases some impressive LGBTQ+ representation in the normally very straight Marvel Universe. It also manages to be a bit more tongue in cheek, with lots of goofy humor and clever quips alongside the usual fan service Easter eggs. Of the coven of witches, the hilarious and smart-mouthed LuPone is a standout. Plaza and Locke (Heartstopper) both more than hold their own as Rio and Teen.

After a somewhat shaky start, the fantasy miniseries picks up once Agatha’s newly-assembled coven starts their journey to pass the trials of the Witches’ Road. The two-part finale is mostly satisfying. While not quite as strong as WandaVision, Agatha All Along is still an entertaining good time thanks to Hahn’s phenomenal performance and a fun ensemble cast.
