The Reel Review
This is a cleverly-written and beautifully-filmed story of an unconventional first love, when a young, aspiring New York writer (Anton Yelchin) enters into a relationship with a glamorous married Frenchwoman between the hours of 5 and 7pm – a relationship that the woman’s husband and children are aware of and fully support. A strong cast – Glenn Close and Frank Langella play the writer’s befuddled parents and “Skyfall” Bond girl Berenice Marlohe, the captivating love interest – helps overcome a tediously cliched script, and in doing so, adds a thought-provoking French perspective on American notions of love and relationships.
