The Reel Review
This remake of the classic 1957 Western stars Christian Bale as a drought-stricken, 1800s Arizona cattle rancher who agrees to join an escort to get captured outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) to the 3:10 train to Yuma to stand trial, while being pursued by Wade’s band of criminals as well as a revenge-minded posse of vigilantes.
Compelling performances by Bale, Crowe and Ben Foster, along with director James Mangold’s taut, well-paced story, keeps the suspense going, making it a fitting tribute, 50 years later.
