Police responded to the home Sunday afternoon following a call from their daughter Romy. People magazine has cited multiple sources as saying the killer was the couple’s son Nick, whom has struggled for years with drug addiction, mental illness and homelessness and reportedly had moved in with his parents just days prior to the double murder. He is now in police custody.

Rob Reiner first gained fame as an actor, winning two Emmys for playing Archie Bunker’s son-in-law in the TV sitcom All in the Family. Reiner would later shift into directing, helming such popular films as This Is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Misery and A Few Good Men. His latest comedy mockumentary, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, recently premiered on HBO Max, Amazon and Disney/Hulu.

Reiner was an outspoken proponent of progressive causes, helping to overturn the state’s ban on same-sex marriage and getting legislation passed to support the state’s needy children. He also was an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump.
