“With the conclusion of No Time to Die and Michael retiring from the films, I feel it is time to focus on my other projects.” – Barbara Broccoli

When Amazon Studios acquired MGM in 2022, it gained a catalog of more than 4000 films and 17,000 TV shows – among them, the James Bond films.

Daniel Craig in 2021’s No Time to Die

There have been no new films or a James Bond successor named since Daniel Craig left the iconic role following 2021’s No Time to Die, which despite lackluster reviews (including ours – click the movie title), still earned $775 million at the box office. Last December, a Wall Street Journal report alleged that Broccoli and Wilson’s relationship with Amazon had soured, the two fearing Amazon was incapable of developing a quality Bond movie. Broccoli reportedly told people close to her that Amazon executives were “f**king idiots,” angered that Amazon executives suggested a TV show, a spinoff for the Moneypenny character or even a female 007 series.

Looks like they patched things up.
