Naomi Ackie will be channeling some serious Whitney Houston vibes – and iconic music video looks – when the upcoming biopic about the life and death of the music superstar hits theaters this December.

British-born Ackie, whose acting credits include Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Lady Macbeth, headlines the biopic which was written by Anthony McCarten, who also wrote the 2018 hit Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. Houston’s record producer Clive Davis, played by Stanley Tucci in the film, is the film’s producer, with Kasi Lemmons (Harriet) directing.  Ashton Sanders will play Houston’s husband Bobby Brown with Nafessa Williams taking on the role of Houston’s longtime friend and assistant Robyn Crawford.

I Wanna Dance with Somebody will hit theaters December 21, just in time for Oscar season.
