Thandiwe Newton stars in the upcoming tense neo-Western thriller about a former New Orleans police officer turned professor who gets drawn into an escalating feud when hunters trespass on her property in the American West.

Co-written and directed by Julian Higgins, this pulse-pounding tale of racial prejudices, toxic masculinity and bleak lawlessness is based on James Lee Burke’s short story, Winter’s Light.

God’s Country opens in theaters on September 16th.
