Dust off the Oscars kids, ’cause Glenn Close and Amy Adams are a’ comin’ for them with the latest Ron Howard film due to drop on Netflix next month – Hillbilly Elegy.

The adaptation of the best selling 2016 memoir from author J.D. Vance is about the Appalachian values of his Kentucky family in relation to the social problems of his hometown of Middletown, Ohio, where his mother’s parents moved when they were young.

The thought-provoking film explores poverty, vanishing low wage jobs, alcoholism, drug addiction, family violence, and a questionable work ethic in relation to the region’s political swing from strong Democratic Party to strong Republican Party identity.

In addition to Close and Adams, the film stars Gabriel Basso, Haley Bennett and Freida Pinto, with music by Hans Zimmer.

Hillbilly Elegy premiers on Netflix on November 24th.
