Comedian Jordan Peele’s directorial debut is about a young black man headed to a “meet the parents” weekend getaway with his white girlfriend. This crazy comedy/horror hybrid borrows heavily from such films as Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner, The Stepford Wives, Rosemary’s Baby and The Skeleton Key, and while the film is a bit too scattered to truly find its identity, it is a mindlessly entertaining, jump scare-filled ride that plays off of uncomfortable racial observations with an interesting twist – just don’t think too carefully about the outrageous plot holes you’ll have to navigate to get there.

Daniel Kaluuya (Sicario) and Allison Williams (HBO’s Girls) both do an excellent job in their starring roles as the boyfriend/girlfriend duo.
